The Vorpal Gallery, located in the San Francisco Civic Center area, was founded in 1962 and is one of the oldest and most respected galleries in the nation, representing artists from over 30 countries. Escher to the American public by a major exhibition in 1968 and again in 1970. A comprehensive retrospective following Escher's death in 1972 attracted more than 3,000 visitors on the opening day. Vorpal Gallery founder and director is Muldoon Elder.
