Strictly Tango
Strictly Tango, based in San Francisco, was formed in the fall of 1995 out of a
mutual love for the music of Astor Piazzolla--the father of modern tango. The
original group, which consisted of accordion, viola, and bass, started perfoming
Piazzolla's tango nuevo in local clubs throughout the SF Bay Area. The group,
which currently consists of bandoneon, viola, piano, guitar, and bass, has added
original compositions and dance style tangos to its repertoire. Strictly Tango
has released two CDs which reflect the range and depth of their music. "The Music
of Parlando" consists of concert style tangos, which includes original music
along with the music of Piazzolla. And "Tango at the Top" was recorded live at a
milonga at the Top of the Mark, Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco.
