Good turn out at The Danceasy last night. No performances, just a solid night of good music and dancing. There were visitors from San Diego and Portland, OR. TTM stayed until the end which was about 12:30 or so after which Stuart and TTM went out for Harvest Burgers to discuss the evenings events. If anyone knows a good place to eat after The Danceasy milonga, please let me know at gnicol@silcomp.com....TTM

Great fun at the Mariposa Tango Club last night...
The turn out was strong and Victor was right on with the music. There were visitors from Argentina, Hector B. Villalba, and Portland, Oregon, Clay Nelson and Megan Pingree. There was C&C (Cake and Champaign) for three birthday people. The snacks and punch were good and as usual there was fresh fruit (melons and strawberries), at the end of the night...nice touch. Victor was full of fun and Christy was her usual radiant and elegant self. Before the milonga, TTM had dinner with Elaine of Dear Diary: Elaine's Corner and a new idea was hatched: a photo section for Tango shoes. Elaine was the first volunteer. Her's were a pair of red ones..very cool. Other volunteers also stepped forward for photo shoe shots. So if you have a cool, kinky or unique pair of Tango shoes (male or female), let me know and I'll do a mug shot of them for the new TTM "Tango Shoes" section....
After Tango, TTM checked out the Thursday night Salsa scene at the El Valenciano Restaurant. Good solid CD Salsa music was playing and one of the regulars, Elizabeth, a beautiful Cuban lady, was doing a very hot Salsa. After Tango, it's the place to go for a few more dances.TTM

Nora has another fun milonga:Saturday night, I first picked up Florencia & Julio at Nirmala's house. Then we went for tapas and talked about the Tango world (interview to appear soon in TTM). Next we headed off to Nora's milonga. Getting off the elevator we ran into Elaine (dressed to the T's as usual...look for the next Elaine's Corner article coming soon). She mentioned that Carlos couldn't make it--has a bad cold (get well soon Carlos, we missed you.) Then we ran into Bob M. He was in good spirits. As we walked into the milonga, you could tell there were sparks in the air. The floor was full with lots of good dancers and the music was solid. There were also some new faces: one lady, originally from S.F., is now living in Arizona, but says she wished she was back here since she recently got hooked on Tango...my sympathies. (See how lucky we are here.) I got lots great shots, one inparticular of Nora and Victor as they were dancing. (Check it out next week.) I kept Julio busy trying to get pictures of him with lots of lovely S.F. ladies--he's cool, he thought it was great fun. There's a good one of Julio and Jean (next week). Also got a good shot of Stella and Azriel (I think that's how he spells it, if not let me know so I can fix it.) trying to duplicate Julio and Florencia's great promo picture where he is sitting, she is out stretched on her back on his knee with her legs crossed, and he is kissing her stomach. Stella wants to try it again later...sounds good to me Stella. Some of the dancers I saw dancing up a Tango storm where Galina, George G., Nelson, Gustavo, Amy, Dina, Lynne, Victor (a different Victor), Milena, and Guillermo.
P.S. if you would like your picture in TTM (and get a free 4x6 print), just ask me, George Nicol, you know the one running around in the black jacket trying to stay out of peoples way but still get a good shot. (You will have to, however, sign a standard photo release form.) See you on the dance floor...TTM

Exciting and Fun Performances at The Danceasy Ruben Terbalca gives two performances: three dances with three different local milonga ladies followed by a fun Tango with another local dancer where Ruben takes the followers part. It was a very memorable sight. Later beautiful Florencia & Julio perform an exquisitely flowing Tango.
Meanwhile Fabian Salas makes a surprise appearence and takes a night off from performing, to relax and enjoy Gale and Kate's magic milonga night, after a three hour private class setup by S.F.'s own Elaine. After the class Fabian and the group of eight discovered a new resturant to go to after Tango nights in S.F. called "Original McCarthy's" serving food from "Cha Cha Cha" on Mission at 19th. The food was grrreat! ...TTM

Nora does it again...
Nora's new Milonga in Redwood City is a don't miss...
Large beautiful dance floor (not too slippery, not too sticky...just right) in a festive like dance room. Good music and plenty of room to dance.
Check it out. It will be worth the drive, if you are coming from the San Francisco area. This has got to be one of the best Milonga locations.
Check it out at: 4th Friday: La Milonga de Nora
