In memory and honor of Nestor Ray.
Nestor Ray started dancing Tango at the age of 9. He was influenced by such dancers as
Fino, Petroleo, Antonio Todaro, Pepito Avelaneda, and Raul Bravo. At the age of 17,
he won the Tango Salon-Fantasia. He participated in the TV program of La Botica,
with dancers such as Gloria and Eduardo, Virulazo and Elvira, and the Dincels. He
has won Tango competitions at the Salons of Regin, Estudiantes, Club Almagro, San
Jose de Flores, and Augusteo.
Nestor was named "The Maestro to the Stars" for his work in Hollywood teaching
famous people to dance the Tango. He also gave classes at Stanford, CA during Tango
Week 1996 and at Winchester University.
Nestor toured the USA--Santa Barbara, San Diego, San Francisco, Lafayette, Scramento and Washington D.C. He also toured Europe, giving exhibitions in Paris, Marseilles, Toulouse, Brussels, Nantes,
Stuttgart, Strasbourg and cities in Italy.
Nestor was the personal Tango instructor of Robert Duvall, with whom he toured the
US in the promotion of the Argentine Tango. He also danced in the following movies:
The Patota Argentina, Baile Nuestro, Tango Mio, and recently in The Man Who Captured
Adolph Eichmann with Robert Duvall.
